Touchpoint’s Creative Director, Howard Wright, is guest editor for How-Do

We are now all far too used to hearing about the recession and the doom and gloom that goes with it, so I welcome any signs of green shoots in the economy and celebrate the positive stories coming from the creative and media industries in the region.

Now more than ever we need to look forward:  the decisions we make today are the ones that will build the future. Doing nothing should not be an option.

In my industry, the wins and new projects by Wilson Cooke, JudgeGill and Blacksheep should be celebrated as they inspire a much needed positivity within the industry.

All support is welcome so it is good to read that Lancashire Business View are encouraging businesses in the North West to create partnerships by organising an event to help them meet and support each other. With the wealth of talent and industry in the North West there should hopefully be some very interesting partnerships created.

The next event by How-do on Thursday 4 June in Liverpool aimed primarily at the creative sector also promises to be something worth being at.

It seems that being in the North West not only positions us for the best in social, sporting and cultural events, but that as a destination for meeting ‘Manchester is the best value business destination’. I would be interested to hear a response to the comment about Manchester Central (GMEX) and how it compares to other venues.

And finally I will definitely be watching how SKV will be reinventing Blackpool, with holidays at home on the increase this Great British gem of a resort can only benefit from additional publicity and it will be interesting to see how traditional forms of PR and communication work in respect of the full range of social media planned.
